Reiki Therapy Sessions

reiki for animals

A hands on session aimed at balancing the body, mind and spirit by releasing pain, tension and anxiety.

Incorporating reiki, cranial and spinal realignment, acupressure and communication. Crystals may also be placed on the body or nearby.

Energy based healing sessions are great for quietening the mind, allowing the body to better engage with the brain and for enabling greater focus, reducing anxiety and bringing the body back into balance so that it can work as effectively as possible.

I have found these sessions to be really beneficial for anxious dogs and rescue dogs in particular.

The various techniques used help to release tightness and energy blocks and so promote correct alignment and freer movement.

Each session is specifically tailored to your dog and I will apply the most appropriate techniques depending on your dog's needs.

What to expect from a Reiki Therapy Session

Your dog’s first appointment will usually last around 1 and a 1/2 hours to enable me to gain an overall picture and full insight into his history, current routine, previous or current injuries and any behavioural issues aims. A follow up appointment lasts around an hour and usually takes place 1-2 weeks later and this is often sufficient to complete the realignment process to help your dog be the best that he can be.

I will assess your dog’s conformation and observe him move in walk and trot to analyse his gait and to help to identify any possible areas of stiffness, soreness and any compensatory movement.

General maintenance sessions are recommended every three to six months to maintain the benefits of the therapy and to act as an overall MOT, however, I’m happy to work with you to discuss the best programme allowing for your budget and the dog’s needs.

After each session, I will follow up by email my findings and put together a plan which will detail any suggestions such as exercises, stretches or techniques you can perform yourself at home. I can also send a report to your vet and any other therapists you are working with so they are up to date with my findings.

I like to think of each therapy session like peeling off the layers of an onion, so that during each session I am able to work deeper and release a further layer of tightness or tension each time.

Important points to note before the session:-

  • You may be given exercises or other suggestions to help continue your dog’s healing process and             this may involve making some changes to your usual routine;
  • Your dog must be 7 days clear of any vaccinations or wormers;
  • Your dog must be clean and dry when I arrive;
  • Please inform me of any medical or condition changes in your dog.

What is Cranial and Spinal Realignment?

Cranial, spinal and whole body realignment does not involve any forceful manipulation but uses Quantum Touch techniques and other energy based techniques to enable the bones in the face, spine and whole body to glide back into alignment and realign themselves. This alignment enables the bones, muscles, fascial and other connective tissues to work in harmony promoting freedom of movement.

It is vital that the physical body is structurally in alignment, as any misalignment can cause physical pain, poor posture and restricted movement which in turn can lead to compensatory movement patterns elsewhere in the body.

I will work my way down your dog from nose to tail to assess his head, spine and pelvic alignment and make any corrections using light and gentle touches and vibrational energy techniques. I will then re-assess and make any further adjustments, if required. Please note that no physical manipulation is involved.

Some people refer to this as a non-invasive version of a chiropractic session as intent is focused on musculo-skeletal realignment, with often similar but longer lasting results.

What is Communication?

Canine communication can be very effective in helping to ease tension or worries in your dog’s mind and can be used to help resolve any issues and to find out what your dog feels he needs to improve his well-being.

Your dog may transmit vibrations, emotions, thoughts or pictures to share information about how he is feeling. This can be helpful when trying to address the root cause of a problem or to provide information on any changes in lifestyle etc
